Google's AI-Powered Shopping: Revolutionizing E-commerce with Smart Features

Google revealed that it is adding new features to AI Mode in Search to make online shopping better. After testing the new feature, users can try on clothes virtually and if they get the right size, an AI agent will order them instantly. The company also added that AI Mode uses Gemini along with the Shopping Graph from Google to assist users in browsing, comparing, and locating suitable products.
Searches through AI Mode
As announced at Google I/O 2025, AI Mode is becoming more efficient at helping users to discover furniture, clothes, and different products. Using the mode, you can perform searches just like in a conversation and have AI help you understand the topic using fine answers. The new AI shopping mode is designed to help users discover inspiration and new possibilities by searching with everyday language. So, if a user requests an AI travel bag, it won't show items that are not bags. It will compose a display of promising options that are adjusted according to what the user wants. Changes in the results are made instantly, so you can keep finding new brands to choose from.
Virtual try-on systems
Google also released information that AI Mode lets you try on outfits virtually. It noted that finding the perfect clothes online isn't always easy because people often don't know how they'll look. Now, users are able to post their own pictures and check out how different dresses look on one's avatar, directly from Google Search. The tool will adjust the fit based on photos of someone's body, so the styling appears the same way on your body. The images will be produced using technology that ensures every aspect such as material and body detail, appears real and correct. At this time, the feature is only part of Google Search Labs in the US.
Agentic checkout
AI Mode will allow you to choose the best price for the item you chose. By using the new checkout, customers can keep an eye on the prices of any product, pick their desired size, color, and budget and have alerts sent to them when the price changes. If the user wants to go ahead with buying, all they have to do is tap "buy for me." Once completed, Google will put the purchase in the merchant's checkout cart and use your Google Pay details to secure your payment. Starting in the next few months, product listings in the US will be able to take advantage of the agentic checkout feature.
